Upcoming events

Hello all!  Super excited to be underway and see these amazing kids nearly everyday!
Several things- please read through:

1. Varsity cheer- Saturday 9:30-11:30am and Monday 5-7pm.
2. This blog is now just for cheers!  So, hopefully it is less hectic.
3. We need auction items for baskets to be auctioned at the Stomp event.  Stomp is Sept 15th, and it is a fun day in which we use to kick off homecoming week.  There will also be a chili cook off.  Winning chili gets a certificate, and last year- $100 to the program of choice!  I won last year and gave it to cheer!!!!  So, please let me know if you have any auction items to donate and get your chili ready!!!
4. Please let me know asap if you want to sell Entertainment books for your indiv account.
5. All cheers are asked to try to sell 2-4 Shopping Extravaganza tickets.  It is a super fun event that can help us earn a ton of money.  However, we need to sell at least 100 tickets.  Please hep with this!  Go to the CR Outlets website to order now and make sure you pick CVHS Spirit team!
6. Varsity- the kiddie clinic has been changed to the October 19th game.  The clinic itself will hopefully be on the Oct 15th day.  Waiting to hear a final ok on that part!
7. Varsity cheers- Please donate a snack items for the homecoming baskets for golf/softball/tennis/xcntry.  A box of granola bars, protein bars, or a box of any pre wrapped indiv servings snacks would be great.  Please turn into Haley Smith- your game captain!  Due date- Sept 10th.
8. JV cheers- please donate a box/case of drinks for the homecoming baskets.  Due date by Sept 10th to your coach.

Friday - wear uniforms to school (no liner...too hot!).  Hair half up/half down
              Open Gym @ 7:30.  Castle Rock School of Gymnastics.  $10.  Need a waiver

Saturday - be at the field at 8:00 am.  Full Uniform (shell, liner and skirt)  If it gets too hot, we will take off the liner., high pony and white bow.  Make sure you bring your water bottles!
Great practice today girls!  Looking forward to our first game!

JV Cheer, it was a short practice, but it was a good practice.  Thank you Cat from Varsity for stopping by to help.... it was a huge help!  Thank you thank you thank you from all of JV!  JV Cheer, please think about the corrections she helped with and keep them in mind.  Her and I both agree that all of you have made huge improvements and look awesome!  Especially for a new team with only 3 returning!

JV CAPTAINS.... our JV Captains are Jacquelyn Burrier and Shea Ross!  Congratulations girls.  Everyone on the team is a captain in their own way and will each have a responsibility.  I am so proud of all of you!  As Cat said at practice, everyone (including Coach's, Varsity, etc) have been watching all summer for leaders, attitudes, commitments, etc. and I feel our captains have all of those traits.  I'm looking forward to a great season!

THURSDAY OUTFIT:  White t-shirt, Red/white shorts and any bow.  Hair up in a high pony.

Mistake

I said that JV did not practice last Friday, my mistake.  They obviously did.  Anyway- I did not ask Addy to get the missing items list on that day.  I had asked a couple days before that but I forgot to ask for it by Friday.  My fault.
Sorry for delay.  BTW- last order that came in last week filled approx 1/2 of the missing items.  Thats a start! Coach H

JV CHEER CAPTAIN CANDIDATES

At evaluations on Friday, 7 girls announced they would be interested in cheer captain.  They are:

Hailey Bennett
Jacquilyn Burrier
Jerree Cleavenger
Maddie Dietrich
Rebecca Freeman
Carrie Kiyan
Shea Ross

Any of these girls would make a great Captains - but only 2 will be chosen.  The team will vote for them on Wednesday after practice.  Each girl will give a speech to the team explaining why they should be Captain.

JV CHEER

First, my apologies is any information was missed with the FB/Blog postings.  I will only be posting on the Blog from here forward.

The last few practices have been awesome.  I've been able to see the girls tumbling skills, talk to them about goals and evaluate them individually.  We have skills of every level and each girls skill is valuable to the team - not matter what level.

A few things - On Friday at practice/evaluations, I handed out the Athletic Handbook, a packet with a hard copy of the calendar and other information.  Yesterday I handed out a packet detailing the demerit system and expectations.  Please review these with your daughters - then sign and bring it back to me so I can check off that you have read them.

I am still waiting to confirm times for Open Gym on Friday.  I have made phone calls and have not received a confirmation as of yet.  For this friday, please plan to be at open gym at 7:00 pm @ Castle Rock School of Gymnastics.  I'll give the girls more information about it at practice on Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY ATTIRE:  Black Key Hole; Red Sophie shorts, hair in a high pony and any bow.

Again, the calendar is posted here on the Blog and a hard copy was given to each of you so there shouldn't be any confusion.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Full teams! Captains. Info

The teams are both very full for cheers!  Now we are ready to really hit the mats fast.  From today there are 96 days until JV "state" and 102 until varsity state.  It seems like a long time away, but not really.  Please keep checking the school portal and stay on the grades.  Also, any athlete having injury issues?  Make sure coach knows!  Also- Tom Bradley is an awesome trainer.  One of the best.  REALLY.  We also have a strength and conditioning coach that is internationally acclaimed.  (Seriously)  So, please use them for additional help and advise.

Team rosters will be posted and handed out soon.  Captains for varsity cheers are: Brittany H and Catherine D.  Congrats girls!  There were several girls interested and any would have been great. Each senior on varsity will be asked to fill certain roles throughout the year.  They all have amazing gifts to give to our team!  This looks like it will be a fantastic season.   Thank you for having your athlete involved!

Did you know that both cheer coaches are CHSAA tested each year, first aid/CPR cert, NFHS concussion tested each year, and attend a conference/rules meeting each year?  We did we are we do. 

Blog vs Facebook and more...

Hello all.  Many JV families are missing information.  From this point forward, the Facebook page can be used, but not as the main means for information.  It is a great place to post pics and such.  However, since the beginning before tryouts in April, I have said this would be the primary means for communicating.  Please do not use Facebook any more for communication.
The pom team now has seperated from cheers for the blog.  It is only for CHEERS.  There will be another parent meeting soon for any parents that were not able to attend the last meeting.  I understand the reasons, hence another parent meeting.  Happy to do it.
GTM order: I had hoped to put in the final order Friday, but JV did not have a practice.  So, yesterday I made a final request from the girls to check.  I am sending it in today.  Please feel free to contact E'Lise Schmidt from GTM, as she is handling this now.  877-558-6510.  x 1105.  She has been the key to solving the various issues and saying that she will simply make it right.  I have put in HOURS upon HOURS regarding this crazy order. 
I am ready to get back to coaching.  Those who have said they would like to help, now is the time.  We have a lot of areas in which we need great parents to step up and take the lead.

3 Volunteers needed for Shopping Extravaganza Fundraiser

Hello Everyone - As part of our participation in the Castle Rock Shopping Extravaganza fundraiser, I would like to ask for 3 volunteers to help stuff goodie bags for the event.  Stuffing of the bags will take place from 8/31-9/7.  The outlets will contact each volunteer to coordinate a time that works best.  Each volunteer will receive a volunteer t-shirt and a ticket to the event.  If you are interested, please go to the following link and sign up.  I need to provide 3 names by Aug 15th.

Fundraiser - Castle Rock Outlets Shopping Extravaganza

Hi Everyone!

It is time for the annual Castle Rock Outlets Shopping Extravaganza and time for us to participate in one of our most successful fundraisers of each year!  This year, the shopping extravaganza is taking place Saturday September 22. 

The cost of each ticket is $20.  We will receive $10 for each ticket sold, plus will have a chance at a portion of raffle proceeds as determined by the percentage of tickets sold by each organization.  Our goal is to sell at least 100 tickets to benefit from the raffle proceed split.   Ticket purchasers will have 5 chances to win their share of over $40,000 in prizes and can purchase additional raffle tickets at the event.

We have a limited number of hard copy tickets we can provide at the parent meeting next week – However, on line sales are so much easier!  There are less printing costs, no chance of losing tickets, less money exchanging hands and the outlets have been gracious enough to add a line to on-line registration where purchasers can add the name of the Castle View Spirit Team member that should get credit for that ticket!

We are asking that each spirit team member sell 2 tickets each.

If you want to focus strictly on online sales, and send out email requests to friends and family, please include the link below in your email to direct them to the registration page and please specify that they MUST enter the spirit team member’s name in the field provided right below the section where they select the charity of choice (Castle View Spirit Team).  If they do not fill that out, we will have no way of knowing who to give credit to for that sale, so that is of utmost importance.
