2013 Tryouts

WOW- I can not believe it is that time of year- but it is.  The 2013/2014 CVHS Co-ed Team Tryouts will be in late March or first week of April.  Dates tba.  However, for those interested in the varsity level, please note the following:

1. Varsity must have a GREAT foundation of jumps: Toe touch, herky, pike, hurdler, and combination of
2. NOT having a clean standing tuck is not even an option.  YOU MUST have this skill to be considered.  It will be integrated into a cheer.  If you are not strong enough to PERFORM a tuck, it is ok, just know you will not be placed on varsity unless it is clean and consistent.  The cheer will be performed 2x in a row so consistency is exhibited. 
3. A running pass of more than a round off back handspring will be required.  An aerial skill must be a part of the running pass.  Again, clean and above average execution will be required.
4. Be a cheerleader/yell leader.  You must be heard and able to lead a crowd to cheer.  If you can not do this, you will not make the varsity level.
5. You will be required to run a mile non-stop for tryouts.  Time limits will be given.
6. All candidates must be willing to base or fly when asked.  No exceptions.  NO ONE is guaranteed a spot in fying or basing.  It is a team sport, and you will be placed where the team needs you.  If this is something that is not acceptable, please do not tryout for varsity.
7. Have a smile and positive attitude. 
8. Participate in all community service projects and fundraisers.  If you do not have the time, it is ok, but do not participate on a varsity level.

I hope this helps everyone understand the expectations for the upcoming year.  If only 12 girls/guys meet the requirements, that is who will be considered.  Max allowed on varsity is 25.  The goal is 25, but ONLY IF ALL ABOVE SKILLS ARE ABOVE AVERAGE.  Our goal is to be the best cheer team in Colorado for our school, community, and selves.

Nationals for VCo-ed

Hello all!  We have had two girls for personal reasons decide not to be on the competition team for nationals.  That leaves us needing one or two to replace these girls the best that we can.  The two girls will stay on for games, so the possible girls moving into those spots are for competition only at this time.
I am going to re-evaluate a couple of JV girls that are interested.  Please wait for the call on Jan 2nd.
 
If you have not paid for your flight, I need that payment by the end of Jan 1st.  I am dropping off this payment in the early morning on the 2nd.  $273.20 is the cost written to CVHS.

The hotel is going to be the Caribbean Resort.  The All-American was sold out.  Disney has not released any more rooms, and so we should simply plan on this as final at this point.  I am going to ask for the room balance at this time.  Please have this to me at the first choreography day Jan 4th.

There will be a final payment to cover coaches/admin rooms/airfare as soon as possible.  I need to sit with our athletic director and the new accountant once school is back in session.  Please have credit card info (Name on card, #, expir, address) or a check written to NHSCC for the rooming amount of $571 minus deposit $100= $471/pp to me by the 4th.

The times for choreography on the 4th and 5th will be 9am-12pm each day.  Please make sure your athlete has had breakfast each day and brings a water bottle.

The final payment for coaches/admin will be due by Jan 11th.  High estimate is $192/pp.  The final total due will be $50 less than the original estimate.  So, that is some good news.  Again, please wait on this number.  It will also vary for anyone who sold their above required number for their shopping tickets, sold butter braids, and sold any pizzas.  Your final payment due will be adjusted.

I have one seat available on the team flight at the group rate for anyone that is interested.  Please just let me know as soon as possible.

You will also see a carbon copy permission slip coming home from NHSCC.  They mail these to me and need these asap.  Please sign and get these back to me asap. These are hard to get more of, please do NOT loose it!!! Also, DCSD packets will be coming home soon. Look for these- and I will need these back asap as well.
